Touring Great Britain

Escorted Group Tours

Our tours offer unsurpassed scenery, Stately Homes, literary sites, exquisite gardens and private entertaining, with the constant care of our dear friend and expert Blue Badge Guide, Harriet Graham.

Special interests such as golf and horseback riding can be accommodated as well.

Of course, there is always 'Shopping!' included

and TEA!

Our first-ever group tour to Britain was an unforgettable country house tour of Southern England. Since that time, we have taken groups to various regions of England — the Lake District, the Cotswolds, Devon and Cornwall, Yorkshire, the Peak District, East Anglia and of course, London. Other tours have included Scotland and Wales; Ireland; France and even farther afield ... to Kenya. In each of these countries, we will still find our own 'style' and British interests. In Kenya, we sometimes visit tea plantations, British literary sites and have a taste of old 'Colonial' life, in addition to the thrilling animal sightings! When we visit France, we travel from the South of England across to France; visit Normandy Beaches; gardens designed by British gardeners; and, of course take tea in a wonderful Parisian tea room, returning to London by train.

We have had many wonderful, memorable trips over the years, including a Golden Jubilee tour for Victoria Magazine, when we did go to London to see the Queen! Other theme tours have included Literary Tours, Country House and Garden, Needlework, Children's Literary Tour (Potter and Potter — Beatrix and Harry!), Christmas Spirit (and shopping!), Miniatures and Tea Tours.

A unique feature of Rose Tree Cottage tours is that we often feature private visits to homes and/or gardens — from a suburban garden in London to the beautiful and sprawling Chatsworth Estate and House where we were honoured to be met by the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire herself. We make sure our travellers experience wonderful, traditional foods and of course, afternoon teas wherever possible! We also promise that there will be a few surprises along the way — planned and unplanned!

Photo Safaris

A typical Safari includes game driving in custom built Land Cruiser vehicles, ideal for photographing up close and personal (see above)!  We stay in luxury mobile tented camps in the Maasai Mara and other Game Parks such as Tsavo, the Aberdares, Meru, etc.; with lovely stays in beautiful, unique safari lodges (some are private homes and very special) between camps, encompassing a two to three week stay.  Walking, golf, horseback riding, camel rides, ballooning and other interests can be catered for, including visiting the Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda! All this plus the chance to visit our Rose Tree Cottage adopted school through the work and activities of our Foundation, "Bloom Where Planted"

Volunteer Opportunities in Kenya

Three days of safari in the Maasai Mara to be followed by a week to ten days volunteering at our Enrichment Camp for 600 primary school students, teaching subjects not covered in their curriculum, such as art, photography, creative writing, crafts, football (soccer), psychology, and even 'Robotic Planetary Exploration' by a JPL scientist!

While we ask for doctors, nurses, dentists, teachers, etc., any profession or talent is welcome, as the children benefit from the constant exposure to English and love!  The desire to spend a week with children or just sprucing up the place is all you need to qualify!  Join us in August, 2015!
