It has transpired that developers are planning to displace Rose Tree Cottage to meet the City's inclusionary housing goals of supplying 10% affordable housing offsite while building an 80 unit condominium project in the vicinity. At this time, the plans are that they will be entering into an agreement with the City to meet those goals which will require the relocation of our beloved Rose Tree Cottage possibly in the near future! This famous shop and tea room have attracted people from all over the world and is considered one of Pasadena's most loved landmarks.

If future generations are to remember Pasadena with appreciation rather than contempt, we must leave them more than the proliferation of condo building, chain store density, grid lock traffic and the resulting tension, stress and frustration. In the words of President Lyndon Johnson, "We must leave them a glimpse of the world as it was..., not just after we got through with it."
